Teflon tape is resistant to virtually all substances, including highly aggressive, but not molten, alkali metals and certain fluorine compounds, such as liquid sodium and free fluorine. Due to its low friction, Teflon tape facilitates both the assembly and disassembly of e.g. threaded joints, while at the same time having a sealing function. In threaded joints up to 1" pipe thread.
